Are Females Sleeping on Sports Education?

12 years ago I remember reading an article about the increasing rate of girls dropping out of #sports and #PhysicalEducation in #School.

Having been positively influenced by the wider life concepts and values I had learnt through sport; I couldn't help but think that through engaging more girls through sports and physical education, I could help.
A few weeks later and on this month in 2004, J and C Academy was born; engaging both girls and boys in multi-sports activities at #LyonParkSchool in the #London Borough of #Brent.
12 years on, I'm proud that I can no longer say I, but we; a team of over 120 creative professional teachers help educate over 30'000 girls and boys each week in #PrimarySchools throughout #London, #SouthEast and the #Midlands, not only through #PhysicalEducation but also through #Music and #MFL(#French & #Spanish).
At  J and C Academy, one core ethos is about being inclusive. Are females sleeping on sports education? Female dropout rates remain higher than that of boys in secondary schools, however we are constantly altering this to engage more girls through sports from a primary level, setting the foundations for future success.
#12YearsAgo I knew I could empower girls through sports education, but I didn't imagine it would be in such high numbers. For this I must thank my Senior Leadership Team, Teaching Team and partnered #Schools, who work so hard to educate & inspire the next generation.
